Looking bigger than you are, honestly.

You don't need to fake size. These six details — consistency, real contact info, visible proof — make a small business read as a serious company.

A small two-person team presenting a polished, professional small business brand

Customers aren't looking for size. They're looking for signals that you'll turn up, do the work, and still exist in six months.

01 · Be the same everywhere

One logo, one colour, one way of writing your name. Matching across your site, invoices, van, and listings does more for credibility than a rebrand.

02 · Be easy to contact

  • A domain email address, never a free webmail one.
  • A phone number that gets answered or returns calls.
  • A stated response time you can actually keep.

Small and specific reads as trustworthy. Small and vague reads as risky.

03 · Show the work

Six recent jobs with before-and-after photos and a line about what the problem was. That's a portfolio, and it beats any claim about experience.

04 · Don't fake the scale

Stock office photos and "our team of experts" fool nobody and cost you the thing you actually have: being the person who picks up the phone.

05 · Quick answers

  • Do I need a fancy logo to look professional? No — consistency matters more than polish. The same mark used everywhere beats an expensive one used inconsistently.
  • Should I use a free email address for my business? No — a domain email address is one of the cheapest credibility signals a small business can buy.
  • How many portfolio photos do I actually need? Six good before-and-afters beat sixty mediocre ones. Quality and a one-line story per job win.
